In the heart of the mesmerizing rolling meadows, lived a young shepherd. His life was untarnished, and unsophisticated. His main role was essentially to look after his flock of sheep.

Their gentle baas and the whispering of the wind among the solo tree on the hilltop were his only co-dwellers. Day upon day, guarding his responsibilities instilled in him a notion of calm satisfaction.

Stories of predators hunting on sheep had been around for a while in the village. So, the boy chose to used this fear and played a prank on the inhabitants.

One day he raced into the village shouting “Wolf! A wolf is that has taken my sheep!” The terrified villagers ran up the hills to offer assistance but found nothing threatening.

The boy giggled at the confusion on their faces. This prank persisted for a few more days. However, one click here noon, a real wolf did attack the herd. The shepherd boy dashed for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.

Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but could rescue only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the town only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the results of dishonesty.

The tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the risks of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once violated, is tough to earn back. It's a story as appropriate today as it was anciently.
